Pinehurst, NC
This home, located in the historic district of the Village of Pinehurst, was a unique challenge. It was built in the classic ranch style of the 1970’s and did not fit into the context of the historic cottages and homes surrounding it. The new owners had two goals in mind with a renovation – to re-imagine the exterior to bring it more in line with the feel of the neighborhood and to completely remodel the interior to create a modern, open feel. All of the walls in the main living area of the house were removed to create one large space to house the kitchen, dining area and living room. The Carolina sunroom was updated with new slate tile and modern fixtures. Both bathrooms were completely remodeled to create a spa like atmosphere. A new classic color scheme approved by the Pinehurst Historic Commission along with changes to the front porch and decks in the rear of the property turned the home into a modern cottage, perfect for weekend getaways and family gatherings.
